First 4 days after surgery

Well I made it 4 days. Ive had a few calls and text messages from people asking me if I'm still alive. So Yes I'm alive.
Day Of Surgery. OK so we get to the hospital and check in. Fill out all the paper work and all that fun stuff. Once we finish and wait a while my nurse calls me back to the pre op room. She does all my blood work and tests, then sends me back to another area to get changed into my gown. After getting changed  a second nurse comes in to finish checking me in, and get my IV going. And let me just tell you, I do these things all day but it is a whole other story when it getting done to you!  She was the kinda nurse you get and as soon as they walk into the room your like, Are you serious? Really? I am gonna die. She was a spastic! She was like 200lbs over weight and wouldn't stop talking and telling Mckay and I her life story. It was like she was super hyper on sugar or something. She tried 3 times to get my IV started and couldnt. Like 10 minutes later another girl comes in to try to get one goin she was really good and got it in the first time. About an hour after that, the Dr and the Anaesthesiologist comes in to let me know their going to get started I just remember starting to cry and telling them not to let me die. Then in about 10 seconds I was in the happiest place I'd ever been. I just pretty much stopped caring about everything at that point.  I was wheeled into a room that had my name written on a white bored, and that was it.
I woke up wishing I hadn't. I'm quite surprised I remember so much, but I had like 10 Popsicles in the recovery room. I remember them all being the orange flavor which is the worst one, but it was like a heavenly goodness on my throat so it didn't really matter. Then I was home.

The last 3 days have been pretty crappy. The worst part was throwing up the anesthesia and, not being able to get really anything solid in my stomach. My neck and throat has swollen up a bit so I keep lots of ice on it. But basically I've been eating my weight in popsicles and watching movies the last 4 days non stop. Its quite awesome.  It will actually be so nice to have all this done finally. Its been long over do. Mckay has taken off work and school and has done a really good job taking care of me. The Doctor said plan on days 5-12 being the worst days. :(

  1. Ugh, I hope you feel better soon. That sounds like no fun at all. I'm glad McKay is able to stay home with you. Have you tried drinking a Jamba Juice smoothie? I don't think I could eat popsicles for very long before I started to die for something more substantial. Anyway, just a thought. Love you!
