So, as of most of you know, Mckay has now decided to be a Nurse Anesthetist. He will be getting his Bachelors degree in Nursing (RN) then continuing school to receive a Masters in Specialized Anesthesia. I couldn't be more proud of him!
So.... this is how its gonna go down.....
He could stay at UVU where he is now and receive his Bachelors Degree or he can go somewhere else and start the program right away. At UVU the nursing program is over a 4 year period or he can get it done in 2 years at a tech school, which could be anywhere in the country, unfortunately though it cost twice as much! In order to apply for his masters he has to have been practicing as a nurse for 2 years. So he's decided to go to a Tech school so that he can get it done quicker.
I've really been hoping to leave Utah, but McKay had an interview at a school in Draper and really feels good about it and, about staying here. He's applying for the fall and to other schools throughout the summer. If he does get excepted to this school we'll probably move up closer, like Highland area.
Towards the middle of the program, he's going to have to quit completely at his job and focus only on school, and will be doing 12 hour shifts at the hospital for clinicals and Lab. Having no income for a period of time will be SO HARD! Such a scary thought, but I know we'll get through it....somehow...
We'll know more towards the end of the summer where were going to go. Its hard right now not having a totally clear direction in whats going to happen, but we'll get there at some point.
Your post sounds like my sister. Her husband is doing the same thing at Provo collage right now. It does cost twice as much but he is graduating in August instead of having 2 more years. I think that's awesome that you and Mckay are doing something similar. I hope he gets in the school he wants in Draper! We live in Highland and I absolutely love it! If you move here we could have play dates all the time! We live right by the splash pad! I'm excited for you and Mckays adventure! Oh and your little girl is a doll!
ReplyDeleteWhere in Highland do you live? I love it out there. My family lives up there. We moved up there my senior year and I just love it! I wanted to find like a basement apartment.....
DeleteWell, if Nathanael and I aren't living proof that you can get through school with practically NOTHING financially, then I don't know who is. It's gonna be hard but there's always a way.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just FYI, you might want to consider removing the "spam test" when people comment. Since your blog is private you don't really need that since you know who is reading it and it makes it less annoying for the people commenting. You don't have to but it's just a thought.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah I dont know if I know how...
