neighbor feud part 2

Mac and I decided to put our condo up for sale. We were planning on just waiting till the spring but we decided to do it know and at least have it up on KSL and Craigs list.  So within just a few days we've had some calls and someone set up a time with Mac to come look at it. They were going to come a 6:30.

So, after I had finished cleaning the house for the ENTIRE day, 6:00 comes around and the kids up stairs are being horrible! Jumping off furniture and screaming like crazy. I called mckay to let him know that I was going to go upstairs and try to have a grown up conversation with the mom....if she would let me. I told him that once my heart rate slowed down I was going to go up there. He was a little hesitant of course because he wasn't home and didn't want it to turn into something bad, but I knew that I was going to be better at keeping my cool then he was.

I put a sweater on Bostyn, took a couple deep breaths and headed upstairs. When I knocked on the door, I saw that the kids were looking out the window and were freaking out that "The bad people" were at their front door. I assumed that the mom wasn't going to answer but surprisingly she opened the door.  I told her in a very kind voice that we were having people come look at our condo and that I would really appreciate it if the could be respectful and quiet for 30 minutes while they were here. She looked at me in disbelief that I was even up there, and just pretty much started crying. She kinda went off about how horrible its been to live there, and how hard it was to be a mom of 3 boys in a condo.  I basically listened to her for a while while she complained about all of her health issues and financial issues. And to be quite honest I was glad it was going the way it was, instead of screaming at each other.  I told her that I understood her situation of staying home all day with 3 young boys. But I also told her that she did need to be more aware of the people around them, and just because it is harder for them to be quiet doesn't mean she didn't have to try. I told her that Mac and I, as well as Bostyn need to be able to sleep at night and function during the day and feel comfortable in our own home. She was really nice about it, but at the same time trying to make themselves the victims, like they were the ones who have been suffering so much from living above us. Ummmm ok whatever. She can feel vicimized all she wants but my only reason for going up there was to ask them to be quiet. It they were. I expected that that was going to be her angle but I didn't care. I just new that calling the cops would only make it worse, and possibly sabotage everything. In the end. She said they would try harder to be quiet and actually thanked me for coming and knocking on the door.

The people never showed up to look at our place. But if there are 2 things that came good out of it, its the fact that my house has never been cleaner, and the situation with the people upstairs is better. And possibly ended.
